Circuits for Industrial Heritage of S. João da Madeira is an innovative industrial tourism project, pioneer in Portugal and tutored by the city of São João da Madeira. It aims to combine the preservation of the industrial heritage of the region with the dissemination of technological innovations of the factories in the county, which are the world leaders in their respective sectors of activity.
These "Circuits for Industrial Heritage",are composed by six companies, two institutions, linked to training and research, and the Museum of Millinery, which open their doors to unravel decades of history and to show what is best made in Portugal.
Among the companies to visit we can go from Viarco,the only pencil factory in Portugal, through the footwear companies Helsar and Everest, the Cortadoria Nacional de Pêlo, a company dedicated to fur transformation and by Fepsa, a world reference in the hat industry, finishing with Heliotextil, a labels and trimmings factory.
